Raising Awareness for Gold Star Families

I have just finished supporting my friend Jim Crigler who canoed the Mississippi River from its source at Lake Itasca to New Orleans. His purpose was to raise awareness for Gold Star Families (those who have lost a loved one defending the USA) and to raise funds for Huey 369, an organization that restores and flies Vietnam era helicopters and provides free rides to Gold Star Families. This has been a two month effort with the hopes that we can get a national day of recognition for Gold Star families permanently set for the day before Memorial Day. In the process, we raised in excess of $70,000 for Huey 369. Please go to www.missionofhonor.org or facebook page "Mission of Honor - Mississippi Gold Star Paddle" for more info. Donations are appreciated. Write your Congressman and Senator for support for a permanent Gold Star Family national day of recognition. I've attached a few pictures of the trip. One is of me waiting at the steps by Jackson Park in New Orleans which is the get out point. One is a picture of the Mississippi near its source in Minnesota. The last 3 are of Jim approaching the get out point. Jim is just a dot in front of the cruise ship in the last photo.
