MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDER
October was a busy month. We had two raffles, a car show, a burger night, and the District Convention.
Speaking of the Convention, I want to personally thank all of you who took the time to come on down and help out.
Can you believe the countdown has already started for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the Christmas season?
We must be in November.

At this time, we have an option for our December meeting.
We are not required to hold a business meeting in December. I would like to hear your opinions on that.

Lastly, I have just started up another RAFFLE!!!
We will have a drawing on December 15th at 7:00pm for a Dallas Cowboys “Ultimate Fan” Ladies watch.
I already have the watch and it’s a dandy. For our male members out there who have trouble figuring
out what to get the wife for Christmas, here you go. It already is in a gift box.
Tickets are $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. I’m working on the flyers now.

November finished with 324 members on our current roster, 183 members paid, 69.58% of our 2017 membership goal.
Currently we have 33 members from 2016 and 94 from 2017 that have not renewed. If you are one of these,
please renew at your earliest convenience. You can mail your renewal to the post address on the renewal notice,
put it in an envelope and drop it in our mail box in the game room at the Lodge or call me, 817-360-7558,
and I will meet with you at your convenience.
The Legion membership year is January 1st through December 31st each calendar year.
A member is considered delinquent after January 1st of the next year if dues are not paid.
With the Holidays approaching, please renew your membership now before they expire.
I encourage you to renew your membership online at www.legion.org/renew,
it saves us both paper work and the price of a stamp. Check out being a Paid Up For Life (PUFL) member
and see if that works for you. Visit our website, regularly at http://www.americanlegionpost60texas.org/index.htm.

At our September meeting a motion was made, seconded and passed to
re-activate Arlington Post 060 Sons of the American Legion Charter.
SAL membership dues have been set at $20.00; duel membership and minor membership at $10.00.
We will begin accepting membership as soon as I receive the cards from Department. Pass the word.
If you are interested in joining the Sons of the American Legion, or becoming a duel member,
or want to sign you minor son or grandson up, please let me know.
I have to have the DD214 or equivalent of the person, parent or grandparent, you are coming in under.
They also have to be a Legionnaire unless deceased.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 60 has asked the Legionnaires support in increasing their membership.
They want your eligible family members to join the unit. Applications are available at the Lodge.
Also, female veterans can be dual members as well.

The ELKS Lodge #2114 has agreed to sponsor our post at their Lodge.
As a non-member of the ELKS, you will need to be signed in as a guest.
We will have a member of the ELKS there to sign you in.
On meeting nights, the last Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm, you can sign yourself in,
just enter your name and post 60. We hope that this will enable our post to grow and prosper.
